Make sure it complies with the rules in the province where you practice. Your life insurance license is a mark of competence. You can showcase it in your public representations, provided you use the authorized title and comply with applicable regulations. Here are some examples of representations: - Business card - Advertising - Email signature - Facebook page - LinkedIn page - Website All of your representations must clearly state your **name** and **contact information**, as listed in the regulator’s registry, as well as your **authorized title**.   **In Quebec** For the field of life insurance (insurance of persons), use the title “**Financial Security Advisor**” (*Conseiller en sécurité financière* in French). You must also mention the firm you represent. Do not use the title “**Financial Advisor**,” as it is prohibited in Quebec. If you are an intern, always present yourself as an “**Insurance of Persons Trainee**.”   **Elsewhere in Canada** The rules vary from one province to another. In several provinces, including Ontario, the titles “**Financial Advisor**” and “**Financial Planner**” are protected. **You can only use them if you have obtained them from a regulator-accredited organization.** For more information on the rules in Ontario, consult the [information sheet](https://iaconnected.ia.ca/hubfs/Individuel/Divers/1024%20-%20Life%20Agent%20Handout%20ENG.pdf) prepared by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario. Please note that for advisors who have the privilege of being listed on iA Financial Group’s [Talk to an Advisor](https://ia.ca/find-an-advisor) page, only the title of “**Life Insurance Advisor**” (*Conseiller en assurance vie* in French) is permitted.   ### Check your representation tools - Do your name and contact information match those in the regulator’s registry? - Is your license valid in the province where you practice? - Do your email signature, social media profiles and website all use the same title? - In Quebec, is the firm you represent indicated? - If you’re listed on the [Talk to an Advisor](https://ia.ca/find-an-advisor) page, are you using the correct title for that page?   The right title helps clients understand your role and highlights your certification.
