A new simplified version of the Request to Withdraw Funds from a Registered Education Savings Plan for Educational Purposes (F51-183A-1) is available in the Document Centre of your Advisor Centre.
Primarily, the improvements made will:
- Make it easier to understand government requirements for an EAP (Educational Assistance Payment) withdrawal
- Accelerate request processing by reducing errors and back-and-forth communications
- Improve the experience for you and your clients when completing the form
Main improvements
- Integration of explanations within the form. The explanations that were on the first page (RESP Withdrawal Guide) are now integrated directly into the corresponding sections on the form (in the left-hand column, in blue).
- Addition of examples of proof of enrolment. In Section 6, we have added several examples of accepted proofs of enrolment, along with the mandatory information these documents must contain.
- Addition of warning message for mandatory sections left incomplete. If you do not complete certain mandatory sections, a warning message will appear on the screen to indicate which sections have not been correctly filled in. You will be able to save your form, but please note that these mandatory sections must be completed before we can process your request.
Although the form remains available to clients on ia.ca, we recommend filling it out with your client to guide them and prevent errors and processing delays.
If the form is submitted directly by your client, the investigation of a non-compliant request will be carried out in Business Tracker, and you will need to contact your client. We will accept previous forms until February 28, 2025.
