Do you want to recruit effectively? Here are some tips that will help you benefit from LinkedIn, a goldmine for quality candidates.

Introduction to the LinkedIn search tool

You can use the search bar in LinkedIn to find people and grow your professional network.

To search for a specific candidate on LinkedIn:

1. Enter your keyword in the search bar at the top of the page: for example, the name of an insurance firm in your area or a job title, like “financial security advisor” or “sales manager”.
2. Click on the search icon  to run the search and see all results.
3. To narrow the search, use the filters at the tope of the page.
4. Click on the drop-down menu icon to the right of the category to expand the category and check the appropriate boxes.

You can refine your search results using the advanced search options:

1. Click on the People tab at the top of the page to hide business and group pages.
2. Select a filter at the top of the page.
3. Click on the drop-down menu icon to the right of the category to expand the category and check the appropriate boxes.

Connecting with a prospective candidate

If a candidate seems promising, you can connect with and invite him or her to join your network. Simply use the Connect button.

The most important step is to add a personalized message in order to maximize your chances of recruiting. Here’s an example. Feel free to adapt it and use it over and over!
