What is SEO?
Search engine optimization (SEO) is a set of activities implemented to improve the positioning of a page in search engines, like Google. Also known as natural referencing, this activity provides greater visibility in order to attract clients: “a site is well optimized or referenced if it holds the first positions of a search engine on the desired queries”.
How to use SEO?
This free activity must be done over the long term to be beneficial. You must be relevant in the search engine’s eyes to be considered.
Here are five ways to be relevant:
- Make sure to have an online presence: website, social media. Make sure to have a Google My Business page for your agency.
**Attention: to make sure SEO works, only create one agency page. Several advisors from the same agency should not create independent profiles.
- Make sure your social media pages are complete: full name, address, telephone number, category, email address, profile and cover pictures, description of your business and services (About section), your services offer, etc.
- Include links to your other sites (LinkedIn, Instagram, web page, etc.) on your social media (About section) and on your personal site.
- In your communications on social media, use easy and well-known keywords that are likely to be used by clients searching for a service. Try to also use these keywords on your personal site. E.g.: advisor, financial plan, etc. Post new content on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn This new content can include pictures, videos, stories, etc.! Use your keywords among the first words in your posts.
